SARTELL -- The first of three roundabouts opened yesterday (Tuesday) along Pinecone Road, and construction for the other two are underway.

City Engineer Mike Nielson says the roundabout and the stretch along Pinecone Road between 2nd Street South and 7th Street North (past Pine Meadow Elementary School) opened to traffic at about 2:30 p.m. yesterday.

Crews are working on phase two of the Pinecone Road improvements which has construction of a roundabout at Scout Drive underway.

Nielson says work on the Heritage Drive roundabout will begin on Tuesday.

Westbound traffic on 6th Street South will be detoured south at the intersection of 19th Avenue South to 15th Street South and then east on 15th Street South to Pinecone Road.

Traffic on Scout Drive from the west will require drivers to use Troop Drive as an alternative route. Vehicles wishing to travel south on Pinecone Road from westbound Heritage Drive are encouraged to use Roberts Road.

Traffic will be limited to one lane in the north-south direction on Pinecone Road through the end of the project schedule for completion on October 16th.

Nielson says to expect delays and use alternative routes when possible.
