The 10th Annual Sons of Norway Barnelopet

The 10th Annual Sons of Norway Barnelopet (free children’s fun Nordic ski event for ages 3 to 13) will be held on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Riverside Park in Saint Cloud, MN. On-site registration available at 11:30 a.m., but registration forms can be mailed in earlier, which is preferred. Youth race starts at 1:00 p.m. with prizes to all participants!

Cross country ski equipment for children at this event will be provided by the Minnesota Youth Ski League, if needed. Participants are encouraged to come any time after 11:00 a.m. if they want to use free skis (limited amounts) provided by the Minnesota Youth Ski League and have some practice time.

Cookies and hot chocolate will be served amid a festive atmosphere, complete with plenty of food, demonstrations and sampling of Norwegian treats, and the Viking Age Club from St. Paul. If this year is like past years, the Barnelopet will bring lots of laughter and smiles from the children... both young and old!

Planning for this event continues to be provided by Sons of Norway members from Trollheim of St. Cloud, Vennekretsen of Anoka, and FjellSyn of Mounds View. The Central Minnesota Youth Ski Club and Nordic Ski Club of Central MN also contribute much to the success of the Barnelopet.
