Sprout’s holiday market will be Saturday, December 9 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Sprout is making more room to host over 40 local food producers, artists, and artisans, who will gather at the warehouse facility to showcase their handmade, homegrown products for shoppers to purchase for the holiday gift-giving season.

All are welcome to enjoy cooking demonstrations and art performances and to socialize in the winterland atmosphere.

Mahado Ali will once again be the guest chef in the kitchens at 12:30 p.m. to demonstrate another favorite Somali recipe – Seasoned Curry Rice with Goat Meat.

A Somali dance troupe will perform at 11 a.m.

The performances and demonstrations are free and open to the public as folks come to the market to celebrate and shop local food and art.

Community members shopping with Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits can swipe their EBT card to use with vendors selling food products. Shoppers can visit the Sprout info booth to swipe EBT, Debit, and Credit cards in exchange for tokens called “Marketplace Bucks” that can be used at vendor booths during the market. Sprout’s mission to increase access to local food was recently assisted by the Farmers Market Coalition’s Free EBT Equipment Program.

Gift certificates for Sprout Marketplace Bucks will be available for sale and make great holiday gifts. It’s a great way to encourage your loved ones to shop local!

Sprout will also host a Kitchen Tour from 3:15 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. for food entrepreneurs and community members interested in learning how to rent the kitchens and available equipment. Sprout’s licensed kitchen facility can be rented by food producers who want to grow their business into wholesale and retail markets. Families can rent it, too, creating a place to gather for holiday baking parties.
