SCSU Sesquicentennial Project Subject of Stearns History Museum Talk
Graduate student to share research on student activities, involvement in the 1930s
ST. CLOUD (October 31, 2018) – Robert Galler, a St. Cloud State University history professor, and Kyle Imdieke, a graduate student, will present “Good Times in Hard Times: St. Cloud State in the 1930s” at Breakfast Club on Wednesday, November 14, at the Stearns History Museum. The program will begin
at 9 a.m. To mark the 150th anniversary of St. Cloud State, Galler asked his students to examined the university’s history between the 1920s and 1960s. What were St. Cloud State students doing? What were they thinking? Imdieke focused his research on the 1930s and student response and activities during the Great Depression. His findings may not be what one would imagine. Imdieke, who grew up in Sauk Centre, completed internships with the Minnesota Military Museum, Charles A. Lindbergh Historic Site, and Minnesota History Day. He hopes to pursue a museum career. Galler, who has been with the university since 2002, researches and writes about U.S. and American
Indian History with a focus on the Northern Plains. The Breakfast Club program is free for Stearns History Museum members and is $7 for nonmembers. Refreshments will be served. The Museum is located at 235 South 33rd Avenue in St. Cloud. Please join
us for this look at student life at St. Cloud State University during the Great Depression.
