The annual Rice MN National Day of Prayer event with music by bluegrass band, GOLD RUSH, is May 5, 2016 with a meal at 5:30 pm and event at 6:30 pm. Event location, this year, is Shepherd of the Pines Lutheran Church - 1950 125th St. NW, Rice, MN 56367. This event includes all local clergy From Rice area Churches and the Rice American Legion and Auxiliary. The event and meal is free.

The theme for the event this year is Wake Up America, emphasizing the need for individuals, corporately and individually, to return to the God of Fathers in Reverence for His Holy Name.

GOLD RUSH is a bluegrass/gospel band from the Brainerd Lakes area. They are a five-piece acoustic group that performs at churches, festivals, coffee houses and charitable events in the Central lakes Region. Members of the group include: Mark Gilbert playing guitar and banjo; Cheryl Gilbert playing upright bass and singing lead harmony vocals; Greg Kalevik playing mandolin and singing harmony vocals; Hannah Darabi playing fiddle and singing harmony/lead vocals. GOLD RUSH takes their name from a Kentucky fiddlers' instrumental most popularized by the late father of bluegrass, Mr. Bill Monroe.
