Eugene F. Sorensen, 81, St. Cloud

January 19, 1935 - September 13, 2016

Eugene Frank Sorensen, age 81, St. Cloud, MN, died Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Funeral services will be Monday, September 19, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, St. Cloud, MN. Rev. Paul Dare will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday, September 18, 2016 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, MN.

Eugene was born January 19, 1935 in Sauk Rapids, MN to Fred J. and Mathilda (Dahlmeier) Sorensen. He served in the United States Air Force in Korea from 1955 to 1959. Eugene married Kathleen Rau on October 5, 1963 in St. Cloud, MN. He was employed by the City of St. Cloud Street Department as a heavy equipment operator for 30 plus years, retiring in 1993. Eugene was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, and a life member of Eastside VFW Post #4847.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Sorensen of St. Cloud, MN; son, Brian (Mary) Sorensen of Osakis, MN; daughter, Brenda (Phil) Haus of St. Stephen, MN; Bridget (Mike) Miller of Sauk Rapids, MN; brothers, Harold (Virginia) Sorensen of St. Cloud, MN; Leroy Sorensen of Buffalo, MN; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Richard and Victor Sorensen.
