Celebration of life will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Celebration Lutheran Church in Sartell for Betty Batdorf, age 81, of St. Cloud who died Tuesday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Rev. Elizabeth Strenge will officiate and burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be after 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the church in Sartell. Arrangements have been entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids.

Betty was born August 20, 1933 in St. Cloud to Carl & Freida (Bettenberg) Larson. She graduated from Remer High School in 1951 and attended St. Gabriel’s School of Nursing in Little Falls, graduating in 1955. Betty married Douglas Batdorf on July 23, 1955. The couple were blessed with two children.

Betty worked as a Registered Nurse at Grand Rapids Hospital, Methodist Hospital and Hillcrest Nursing Home. She then went on to get her Nurse Practitioner License and finished her career at Park Nicollet Clinic. Betty lived most of her married life in Hopkins, retired and moved to Sartell and then finally to St. Cloud. OBGYN Nursing was her career. She loved working with expectant mothers and bringing babies into this world. Betty’s first love was her husband Doug and her family. She cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her faith in God was a very important part of her life as well. Entertaining people at her home and traveling were some of her other passions. Betty always put others before herself.

Survivors include her loving husband of 59 years, Doug of St. Cloud; children, Carl (Betty) Batdorf of Sartell, Tina (John) Sonnek of Minnetonka; grandchildren, Nicole (Adam) Wentland, Alicia (Drew) Zarges, Nathan (Bethany) Batdorf and Lindsey (Matt) Tyson; great grandchildren, Isaac, Ian, Abram, Nolan, Gracie, Jack, Graham and Charlotte; sister, Mary Lou Braun of Sartell and sisters in law, Gladys Batdorf, Helen Carr and Lorraine Norberg. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister June Sowa, sisters and brothers in law, Tom Braun, Bill Sowa, Harvey and Betty Larson, Bud and Helen Batdorf, Wally and Doris Johnson, Roger Batdorf, Phillip Carr and Guy Norberg.

The family wishes to express their thanks to those on 5 North at the St. Cloud Hospital who cared for her in those final hours. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Leither, Dr. Cowardin and the St. Cloud kidney dialysis unit for their great care of Betty.
