Douglas Laverne Walby, 81, Saint Cloud

February 24, 1934 - April 3, 2015

Funeral services will be 6 PM Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in St. Cloud for Doug Walby who passed away peacefully on Good Friday at his home with his family by his side. The Rev. Yolanda Lehman will officiate and burial will be at a later date at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan, ND. Friends and relatives may call after 4PM on Wednesday at the funeral home in St. Cloud.

Doug was born in Hettinger, ND to Williams & Rose (Kinsvater) Walby. He served in the North Dakota National Guard for 19 years. He married Lillian Koepplin on December 26, 1954 in Elgin, ND. Doug worked for the State of North Dakota Highway Department in various departments for 47 years. After his retirement he and Lillian moved to St. Cloud.

Doug was a great husband, father and grandfather, he loved to tell stories, he was very social and had a great sense of humor. He had a zest for life and never really had a bad day, nothing brought him down. His grandkids loved being around him and spending time with him, he always made them laugh.

Survivors include his wife Lillian; daughter, Patrice (Tom) Dosch; brother and sisters, Del, Delores Schock, Doreen VanSickle,; son in law, Jim Demke; 4 grandchildren, Sarah, Amy , Christopher and Benjamin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter, Candace Demke.
