Douglas “Doug” L. Peterson, 65, Waite Park

August 12, 1950 - January 5, 2016

Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 8, 2016 at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Sauk Rapids for Douglas “Doug” L. Peterson, age 65, who passed away Tuesday. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home in Sauk Rapids. Burial will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls on Friday, January 15, 2016 at 2:00 PM.

Doug was born Aug. 12, 1950 in St. Cloud to Curtis & Elizabeth (Gross) Peterson. He married Sherri Murphy in 1977 in St. Cloud and they were later divorced. Doug served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was an equipment operator for Martin-Marietta in Waite Park for 39 years and retired in 2011 due to illness. Doug enjoyed spearing for Northerns, hunting, fishing, spending time up north at the cabin, and visiting with people. He was a generous man who was a great loyal friend, a hard-worker, and a good listener. Doug loved spending time with his grandson.

Survivors include his significant other and caregiver, Kathryn “Kathy” Tomporowski of St. Cloud; son, Jesse (Jamie Benson-Jones “Bean”) of Remer; grandson, Jax of Remer; sisters and brothers, Joan (Marlin) McClain of Clear Lake, Gary (Sandy) Peterson of St. Cloud, Janet Peterson of St. Cloud, and David Peterson of St. Cloud; his dog, Heavy; and his Remer family. Doug was preceded in death by his parents; and former wife, Sherri.

Memorials are preferred.
