Dorothy Fern Jensen, 89, Sauk Rapids

February 17, 1925 - December 10, 2014

Services will be private to celebrate the life of Dorothy Jensen, 89, of Sauk Rapids. Dorothy passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Sauk Rapids.
Arrangements are being made with Miller-Carlin Funeral Home in St. Cloud.

Dorothy was born February 17, 1925 in Watertown, SD to Myron and Helen (Teague) Corwin. She attended the Watertown schools and in July of 1945 married Glenn Jensen. Dorothy worked part-time at Memorial Hospital for 14 years, Herberger’s for 32 years and Benet Place for 2 ½ years. Dorothy was an active volunteer for the Hospital. She was a member, officer and on the board of Prairie Lakes Hospital Auxiliary and managed the Prairie Lakes Hospital Gift Shop for 9 years. As a volunteer Dorothy continued to be active in the community. She volunteered for the Birthright and Hospice Visitation Program. She was a member of Codington County RSVP Chapter and served on the Board of Directors for 3 years. She also served in the past as President of AARP. Dorothy was a long time member of the 9th Avenue Methodist Church where she served on the Caring Committee, Pastor Parish, XYZ and the U.M.W. After moving to St. Joseph, MN in September of 1999, she volunteered at the St. Cloud V.A. Hospital and the St. Cloud Senior Center as a member of RSVP. She also worked part-time at the St. Joseph Cleaners and Laundromat.

Dorothy is survived by her children Jackie Rindells, Negaunee, MI; Cathy (Chuck) Bartholomay, Bismarck, ND; Larry Jensen, St. Cloud, MN; Rick (Janet) Jensen, Rapid City, SD; daughter-in-law Lori McConnell, St. Cloud, MN; 15 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; as well as many other family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents Myron and Helen, children Connie Jensen and Douglas Jensen, sisters Marion Smith and Wanda Jensen, and husband Glenn Jensen.
