Dayton: Willing To Call Special Session if Conditions Met

ST. PAUL -- Gov. Mark Dayton is spelling out the conditions under which he'll call a special session.

Dayton says he agrees a special session is necessary to finish "urgent priorities" left undone when the Legislature adjourned last month.

He wrote to legislative leaders today (Wednesday) to spell out requirements including spending significantly more on transportation than what he calls the "embarrassingly short" $300 million approved by House Republicans. And Dayton insists that mass transit projects need to be part of it.

Dayton also listed more than a dozen specific programs or construction projects that must be guaranteed before he calls a special session.

And he warned that a drafting error in the tax bill imperils the revenue stream meant to pay the state's share of the new Vikings stadium, and must be corrected.
