ST. PAUL  (AP) - Minnesota legislative leaders have agreed to hold a special session on Sept. 9 to provide relief to areas hit hard by storms in June.

The session will be limited to that topic despite calls to consider eliminating taxes including one on farm machinery repairs.

House Speaker Paul Thissen says lawmakers wanted to focus on storm relief, and couldn't agree on terms for handling tax changes.

The session will be limited to a single day.

Eighteen counties - including Stearns and Benton - were hit hard by storms, high winds and flooding in late June.
