COLLEGEVILLE - Three departments responded to a fire on the campus of St. John's University yesterday (Tuesday).

Spokesman Michael Hemmesch says the fire was reported just before 5:30 p.m. in the Paint Shop on the southwest part of campus.

The St. John's Fire Department was assisted by departments from Avon and St. Joseph.

The cause of the fire and the damage estimate are not known.

One firefighter was treated for smoke inhalation.

The building was built in 1912 and was originally used as the campus laundry.
