MADISON, Minn. (AP) - Authorities are treating the shooting deaths of a husband and wife at a home in Lac qui Parle County as a murder-suicide.

Sheriff's officials say the bodies of 78-year-old William Walley and his 69-year-old wife, Shelley Walley, were found by deputies doing a welfare check at the rural Madison residence Wednesday.

The sheriff's office says the couple had been shot to death in their living room. A preliminary investigation indicates William Walley killed his wife with a shotgun and then turned the shotgun on himself.
