Clean Air Advocates Hold Rally at Xcel Energy [AUDIO & PHOTOS]

ST. CLOUD — Clean air supporters joined forces today (Tuesday) in support of the Minnesota Beyond Coal Day of Action.

Members held a rally at BBC Park urging Xcel Energy to move away from the use of fossil fuels.

Brian Anderson is the St. Cloud Beyond Coal Campaign Organizer. He says this rally is to promote Xcel Energy find alternative uses other than coal.

The rally included an address from speakers, a petition drop off at Xcel Energy, and calls to Xcel Energy CEO requesting they replace Sherco coal plant 1 and 2 with clean energy.

Anderson says there will be a hearing Thursday in St. Paul to address this issue. He hopes that Xcel Energy will consider their request to find alternative solutions.
