ROCHESTER, Minn. (AP) - Rochester Public Schools have notified parents of an apparent child abduction attempt by an armed man and a woman at a bus stop.

The notice went out to parents Tuesday informing them of the incident that happened Friday afternoon. Police say the 7-year-old girl and her 6-year-old brother told investigators they were dropped off outside their apartment building in northwest Rochester and were approached by an older man and woman.

Capt. John Sherwin says the man was carrying a knife and tried to separate the children while the woman took photos and video. He says the children started screaming and were able to escape.

Sherwin says staff at Riverside Elementary reported a woman matching the same description was seen taking photos and video as children were dropped off at school in the morning.
