Charges Filed in Columbia Heights Shooting

COLUMBIA HEIGHTS - A man still being sought by police for a fatal shooting in Columbia Heights has been charged with second-degree murder.

Anoka County sheriff's officials say 18-year-old Evan Denny is charged in district court with second-degree murder in the shooting death of Mohamud Adbiwahab Hilowle. The 20-year-old Minneapolis man was fatally shot at a Columbia Heights home over the weekend.

A criminal complaint says the shooting in Columbia Heights on Jan. 23 following an argument between Denny and the victim over a cell phone.

Denny is also charged with second-degree assault in a separate crime a few days earlier.
