ST. CLOUD -- Charges have been dropped against a St. Cloud man accused in a shooting incident last month that injured another man.

The Stearns County Attorney's Office has dismissed a first degree assault charge against 23-year-old Ronnie Snelling because prosecutors don't believe the allegations against Snelling can "be established beyond a reasonable doubt at this point in time."

Mike Lieberg is the chief of the county's criminal division. He says they dismissed the charge without prejudice, meaning charges can be filed again if more evidence surfaces. He says the investigation into the shooting continues.

Snelling was jailed after the September 6th incident which sent a man to the hospital with two gunshot wounds. Snelling maintained he had nothing to do with the shooting.
