ST. CLOUD -- A Waite Park pimp who was discovered after a 2014 shooting at the Waite Park Motel 6 has been sentenced to nearly eight years in prison.

Twenty-one-year-old Alex Hazelrigg pleaded guilty to sex trafficking in September. He was accused of trafficking a 16-year-old girl from Akeley, MN over a two-week period in the fall of 2014.

The girl was discovered after the shooting December 12th. Defendants in that shooting case, Jonathon Hanson and Deandre Jones have pleaded guilty for their roles in the incident.

According to the criminal complaint, Hazelrigg picked up the girl from her home in Akeley after Thanksgiving, brought her to Waite Park, took pictures of her, placed ads on backpage.com, rented hotel rooms for her, and told her what to charge for sex.

Hazelrigg also kept some of the money the girl made during that time, pointed a gun to her head and threatened to burn her because she wasn’t giving him enough money.

As part of the plea, two other prostitution charges were dismissed.

Hazelrigg receives credit for 273 days in jail and must register as a predatory offender.
