ST. CLOUD -- Catholic Charities in St. Cloud is finding innovative ways to help local families in need with their new mobile food shelf.

Instead of having those in need come to the food, the mobile food shelf brings the food to them.

Trina Dietz of Catholic Charities says it was an obvious decision to implement the mobile food shelf, as many of its recipients do not have cars of their own.

In order to make the mobile food shelf possible, Catholic Charities received a grant that allowed them to purchase and renovate a bus to accommodate for the service.

Dietz says that while donations during the holiday season are greatly appreciated, the food shelf is in greater need after the holidays pass.

If you are interested in helping the mobile food shelf, Dietz says that cash donations are just as appreciated - and perhaps more useful - than a food donation.

In addition to the mobile food shelf which goes year-round, you can take part in Give to the Max Day on November 13th.

For Give to the Max Day, the Jim and Yvonne Sexton Family Foundation has donated $25,000 in matching funds.
