Catholic Charities Announces $400,000 Challenge Gift

ST. CLOUD - Catholic Charities in St. Cloud has announced a major gift in their capital campaign. Executive Director Steve Bresnahan says nine people are donating $400,000 in the form of a challenge gift for the "Saving Children, Saving Families" campaign.

He says the money raised will focus on creating an endowment to support their 40 different programs.

Supporting everything that happens at our building on Roosevelt Road, that's where our food shelf is, emergency services - which includes are food shelf - and the clothing assistance program. That is always an area where we have perhaps our largest number of folks coming in the doors. Last year for instance we distributed almost two million pounds of food.

Bresnahan says the quiet phase of the capital campaign has already raised more than $3 million. Much of that money was used to help finance the new Intensive Treatment Cottage at the St. Cloud Children's Home.
