17-Year-Old Held in Death of Girlfriend’s Daughter

A 17-year-old boy is in custody in connection with the death of his girlfriend's 2-year-old daughter in Minneapolis. The child's biological father, Max O'Neill, says doctors at Hennepin County Medical Center told him his daughter, Sophia O'Neill, had suffered a ruptured kidney and pancreas and died of internal bleeding.

A Little Falls woman is hurt after a two car crash in Morrison County on Thursday afternoon. The State Patrol says the incident happened just after 12:15 p.m. on Highway 10 and Bison Road. A car driven by 40-year-old Jeannette Mallak of Little Falls was traveling east on Highway 10 near Cushing.

Judge: Man Accused of Trying to go to Syria to Remain Held

A federal judge has ordered that a Minnesota man remain held until his trial on charges he tried to travel to Syria to join the Islamic State group. Mohamed Abdihamid Farah appeared in court Thursday for a detention hearing. He's charged with four counts, including conspiracy to support a foreign terrorist group. Prosecutors say he faces up to 53 years in prison if convicted.
