MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - A family spokesman says the 1-year-old boy who survived a fall from the 11th story of a Minneapolis apartment building could soon be going home from the hospital.

Musa Dayib suffered a broken spine and ribs as well as a concussion and a punctured lung. Musa's relatives believe he slipped through the railing of his family's apartment balcony on Mother's Day. He landed on a small patch of mulch below.

The surgeon who operated on Musa, Dr. David Templeman, says it's a miracle he survived the fall.

Hennepin County Medical Center spokeswoman Christine Hill says Musa has improved to satisfactory condition from his initial critical status.

Neighbor Osman Ahmen says that family members expect Musa will be released from the hospital Friday.
