ST. CLOUD -- An annual BMX race will collect donations for the Salvation Army food shelf tomorrow (Sunday) in St. Cloud.

The "Race Against Hunger" event has been held at Pineview Park in St. Cloud for the past several years and gives kids age 2 to 18 a chance to participate in a BMX (bicycle motocross) race for a good cause.

"It's basically a normal BMX race," says Track Operator Mark Post. "The difference in this event is with the registration process -- bringing in the donations and being able to give back [to the community]."

Registration runs from noon to 1:00 p.m. and costs $10 per racer but the fee will be reduced to $5 if a non-perishable food item is donated.

Admission is free for all spectators but bringing cash or food donations is encouraged.

Pineview Park, located at 6540 Saukview Court in St. Cloud, is a non profit organization that holds several fundraising events each year -- including the Bob Warnicke Scholarship Race this Monday.

"We do a lot of races to give back and help people," Post says. "And it's really satisfying to be able to do that."
