Beverly J. Knafla, 79, Sauk Rapids

July 23, 1938 - February 19, 2018

Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 23, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sauk Rapids for Beverly J. Knafla, age 79, of Sauk Rapids who passed away Monday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Rev. David Hinz will officiate and burial will be at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services Friday at the church.

Beverly was born July 23, 1938 in Buffalo to Helge & Hermina (Roerig) Ringstrom. She married Duane Johnson, after he passed away she married Carrol Stave, and after he passed away she married Duane “Duke” Knafla. She lived in the St. Cloud/Sartell area most of her life. Beverly worked for Sears for 13 years and Merrill May for 6 years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she served on the funeral lunch committee and former member of Westwood Community Church in St. Cloud. She was also a member of Central Minnesota Woodcarvers. Beverly enjoyed wood carving, collecting rocks, solving puzzles, antiques, fishing, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a strong willed, gentle, loyal and courageous woman.

Survivors include her husband, Duke of Sartell; children, Sharon (Gregg) Taubert of Beaver Creek, Jeff Johnson of Waite Park, Gary Johnson of St. Cloud and Christine (Richard) Hupe of St. Cloud; step-son, David (Barb) Knafla of St. Cloud; sisters, Joyce Endreson of Buffalo and Marlene Wells of Fergus Falls; 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Duane Johnson and Carrol Stave; sister, Lorraine Thieschafer; and brother, Harold Ringstrom.

Memorials are preferred to the donor’s choice.

The family would like to thank the St. Cloud Hospital 5th floor staff and chaplain for all the loving care given to Bev.
