Memorial Services will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Peace United Church of Christ in St. Cloud for Bernice M. Hofstater, age 87, who passed away Tuesday at Country Manor Health Care Center in Sartell. Rev. John Fiscus will officiate and burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Sartell at a later date. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services Saturday at the church in St. Cloud. Arrangements have been entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids.

Bernice was born July 8, 1927 in St. Wendel Township to Lorenz & Elizabeth (Lovitz) Bauer. She married George “Red” Hofstater on July 31, 1948 at Peace United Church of Christ in St. Cloud. Bernice lived in Sartell most of her life and worked for Frigidaire Manufacturing for 22½ years, retiring in 1990. She was a member of Peace United Church of Christ, charter member of St. Cloud Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 622 Auxiliary, member of Sauk Rapids American Legion Post 254 Auxiliary and International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union Local 623, and a life member of St. Cloud East Side VFW Post 4847 Auxiliary and St. Cloud Disabled American Veterans Unit 9 Auxiliary. Bernice enjoyed fishing and was an avid camper at Mille Lacs Lake for many years. Family gatherings and cookouts for the holidays were on the top of her list. She loved sports, especially the Twins and Vikings. They have lost their best #1 fan. Bernice was an excellent cook and went the extra mile for holidays, treating everyone like family.

Survivors include her children, Jane (LeeRoy) Meyer of Somerset, WI, Kay (Steve) Kayser of St. Cloud, Peggy (Tim) Wensmann of Sartell, David (Michelle) of St. Cloud, William of Sartell, Christine (Al) Supan of Sauk Rapids and Robert (Cheri) of St. Cloud; sister, Betty DeLong of Sauk Rapids; 18 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George “Red” on Jan. 5, 1999; grandson, Curt Wensmann; sisters, Olivia Bauer, Viola Maurer, Loretta Brown and Adeline Baker; brothers, Ervin, Hilbert and Lester Bauer.

The family would like to thank the staff at Country Manor for the wonderful care given to Bernice.
