Behind The Scenes of St. Cloud’s School of Rock [VIDEO]
ST. CLOUD - Though they only perform for one night, the talented musicians of the School of Rock are given the full band experience in the weeks leading up to it.
Students arrive on Tuesday, and by the following Thursday they have a band name, a couple songs they are ready to perform and an audience waiting to hear them.
Tyler Kelm has been a part of School of Rock for 13 years. He started as a student and has since become a instructor at the school. Kelm says that students get right to work from the moment they arrive.
"First day they get here we get the kids into bands. Then we work on what kind of stuff they have been working on. From there we try to get the kids into age appropriate bands."
While the school specializes in giving kids the full band experience, it also helps kids find confidence in themselves.
"This is a big confidence builder. If they (don't) come super confident this can really be challenging. We want them to get out of their shells so they can be a rock star on stage."
To help build the bands, the school assembled a first class group of instructors, including Central Minnesota music moguls Tommy and Jeff Vee, Bassist and Producer Jeff Engholm, Rockhouse Production's Thomas Cabot along with many more talented music professionals.
The School Of Rock performance is at Paramount Theater on Thursday August 10th at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are available at the Paramount Theater box office and are $13.00 for adults and $8.00 for kids under 18.
This is the 13th year of The Wirth Center for the Performing Arts School of Rock.
