November 1, 1952 - July 19, 2016

 

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 22, 2016 at Atonement Lutheran Church in St. Cloud for Barbara A. Phillips, age 63, of Rice who died Tuesday at Quiet Oaks Hospice House after a twelve year battle with breast cancer. Rev. Erica Kennedy will officiate. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the services on Friday at the church in St. Cloud.

Barb was born November 1, 1952 in Breckenridge, MN to Lavern and Phayme (Anderson) Hendrickson. She grew up on a farm in rural Colfax, ND. Barb married Larry Phillips on April 5, 1980 in Colfax, ND. She moved to Sauk Rapids in 1979 and previously resided in Watertown, SD. Barb was a Home Economics Teacher at Sauk Rapids/Rice High School and in Watertown, SD. She was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church where she was active as a Confirmation and Sunday School Teacher. She was also a member of the St. Cloud Home Economic Club. Barb enjoyed traveling, crafts, stain-glass, sewing, cooking, games, puzzles, and spending time with her family. She especially loved her time at the cabin on West McDonald Lake and spending winters in Florida at the Villages. Barb was a kind, calm and positive person who loved being a mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her loving husband of 36 years, Larry of Rice; son, Jeremy of Minneapolis; daughter, Kristen (Chad) Veitch of Hoboken, NJ; grandchildren, Beckett and Haven; mother, Phayme of Fargo, ND; sister, Renee (Dave) Gauslow of Walcott, ND; brothers, Donovan (Vikki) of Colfax, ND; David (Marsha) of Colfax, ND; Bradley (Laurie) of San Tan Valley, AZ; her dog, Sadie and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Lavern.

Memorials are preferred to Quiet Oaks Hospice House, St Croix Hospice and Atonement Lutheran Church.

A special thank you to Coborn Cancer Center, Quiet Oaks, St. Croix Hospice and Dr. Elkadi for all the wonderful care given to Barb.
