Babbitt Man Charged In Death Of Mother’s Boyfriend

BABBITT (AP) - A Babbitt man is charged with killing his mother's boyfriend.

A criminal complaint says Shawn Doherty's mother told investigators her son woke her up the night before John Bulen was strangled and told her Bulen was coming between them and that he planned to kill him.

Police were called to Doherty's home Monday where they found the 55-year-old Bulen unconscious in the street wearing only underwear and a T-shirt. Bulen was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead.

The complaint charges the 24-year-old Doherty with second-degree murder. Court records do not list an attorney for Doherty.
