FRIDLEY (AP) - Police have made an arrest in the abduction and sexual assault of a woman in Fridley by a man who claimed to be a police officer.

The crime took place Nov. 23. The woman said she was walking alone to her vehicle when a man drove up and identified himself as a police officer, then kidnapped her, held her for several hours and sexually assaulted her. The 35-year-old man in custody is from Brooklyn Park.

Minneapolis police say the Fridley case apparently is unrelated to the reported sexual assault of a University of Minnesota student on Nov. 24. In that case, the student said a man wearing a badge warned her against walking alone, offered her a ride and then drove her to a remote location and sexually assaulted her.
