ST. CLOUD - St. Cloud has apparently landed an airline.  The Greater St. Cloud Development Corporation has scheduled a news conference for 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the St. Cloud Regional Airport to make the official announcement.

Spokeswoman Sonja Gidlow says the news was made to their members earlier today (Tuesday).

A representative for the new carrier is expected to be on hand.  Local leaders have been working to lure an airline to provide regular air service to Chicago's O'Hare Airport - and back.  But, St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis says this announcement is not about those daily flights .

Earlier this summer, officials working to attract an airline announced they have secured more than $6-million in travel commitments,  passing their goal of $5-million.

The St. Cloud Regional Airport has been without regular air service for about three years, when Delta Airlines pulled out of town in the fall of 2009.
