Alice E. Stern, 81, Saint Cloud

September 13, 1933 - June 7, 2015

Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2015 at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in St. Cloud for Alice E. Stern, age 81, of St. Cloud who died on Sunday at home surrounded by her family from congestive heart failure. Rev. Greg Lieser will officiate and interment will be at the Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery near Little Falls. Friends and family may call from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 12 at the funeral home and also one hour prior to services on Saturday.

Alice was born September 13, 1933 in Padua, Minnesota to Louis and Helen (Reznechek) Bromen. She married Alcuin Stern on June 28, 1955. While raising her family she was a seamstress and babysat other children in her home. Alice was then employed at the Paynesville Hospital in the laundry department. After moving to St. Cloud, she was employed by Wahlin’s Drapery Shop. She went on to start her own daycare in 1989 until retiring in 1998. She also enjoyed sewing and gardening and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her children, Kevin (Julie) Stern of Duluth, Cindy (Fred) Barten of Sauk Rapids, Pam (Marvin) Koshiol of Luxemberg, Alan (Linda) Stern of Sauk Rapids; 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Everett Bromen of Radcliff, KY, Ernie (Helena) Bromen of Germany, Joyce Odegaard of Alexandria, Kenny (JoAnn) Bromen of Bay City, WI and sister-in-law, JoAnne Bromen of Newport. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alcuin in 1998; infant sister, Barbara; sister, Judy Evenson; brothers, Virgil, Harvey, Dennis and Philip.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Poor Clares Monastery, Sauk Rapids.

The family wishes to express a special thank you to hospice nurse, Molly Dunn, for the exceptional and thoughtful care she gave to our mother.
