Advocate for Families of Murdered Children Fred Reker Has Died

ST. CLOUD - A longtime local advocate for families of murdered children has died.  Fred Reker died on Monday at the age of 84.

Fred and his wife Rita spent much of the past nearly 40 years working for the chapter of Parents of Murdered Children, which they founded.

Reker's daughters, 15-year-old Mary and 12-year-old Susan, were murdered in 1974.  They went out shopping for school supplies when they went missing.  Their bodies were found 26 days later in a quarry.  The case is still unsolved.

The Rekers have four other children.

Mass of Christian Burial will be tomorrow (Thursday) at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in St. Cloud.
