ST. PAUL (AP) - Authorities say a 3-year-old girl has died following a house fire on the east side of St. Paul.

According to the St. Paul Fire Department, the blaze broke out at a home Sunday night and spread to the attic of a neighboring duplex.

Fire Marshal Steve Zaccard says a man was able to get his wife and mother out of the house, but wasn't able to get his daughter. Firefighters were able to rescue her when they arrived.

The department says the child was taken with serious injuries to a hospital, where she later died. Three of her family members were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.
