ST. CLOUD -- Two local women will represent Stearns County this evening (Wednesday) for a chance to be crowned Minnesota's 61st Princess Kay of the Milky Way.

Sabrina Ley, of Belgrade, and Leah Middendorf, of Sauk Centre, are two of the 12 finalists at this year's pageant.

Middendorf says it would be an honor to represent Minnesota's dairy industry if she's crowned Princess Kay.

Middendorf will be a senior at North Dakota State University, where she majors in animal science.

Ley is entering her junior year at Southwest Minnesota State University, where she studies agricultural business and marketing.

She says the journey to get to this point has been amazing.

Princess Kay serves as the official goodwill ambassador for nearly 4,000 Minnesota dairy farmers.

Middendorf says they were put through a series of tests leading up to this evening's pageant.

The twelve finalists have spent the last few days at the Minnesota State Fair, getting to know the public.

Ley says the finalist are a close group and who ever is chosen will represent the dairy industry well.

The pageant will be held at the Bandshell stage beginning at 8:30 p.m.
