PAYNESVILLE - Two people were hurt in a chain reaction crash near the scene of another incident near Paynesville Friday morning. The Minnesota State Patrol says it happened just before 6:00 on eastbound Highway 23, near Veterans Drive.

A pick-up driven by 75-year-old Norman Wisted of Hawick, was in the right lane and slowed as it passed a semi that had been on fire in the westbound lanes. The pick-up was struck from behind by a car driven by a 16-year-old. And that car was then also struck from behind by a car driven by 58-year-old Gaye Smith of Spicer. Smith and her passenger, 52-year-old Walton Smith of Spicer, were both taken to Paynesville Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The other two drivers were not hurt.
