15-Year-Old Hurt in Crash Near Richmond

RICHMOND -- A 15-year-old boy was hurt in a crash near Richmond on Saturday.

The state patrol says the incident happened just before 6:00 p.m. on Highway 23.

A car driven by 17-year-old Farhan Abdi of Waite Park was attempting to pass a car driven by 20-year-old Najib Mahamud of Waite Park. Mahamud then moved into the left lane, making contact with Abdi's car.

The sideswipe caused Mahamud's car to go into the ditch. One of Mahamud's passengers, 15-year-old Abdi Billow, suffered non life-threatening injuries.

No other injuries were reported and both cars received minor damage.
