ST.  CLOUD - A plan to extend the Lake Wobegon Trail into St. Cloud is beginning to take shape.

A new report suggests creating the trail along 10th Street North in St. Cloud. The seven-mile stretch from St. Joseph to the Mississippi River would cost an estimated $2.5 million.  Third Street North and 5th Street North are also being considered.  Tenth Street is the preferred route because of the pedestrian bridge over Highway 15.

Funding for the project would come from the local half-cent sales tax, Legacy Funds, and State Bonding money.

The Lake Wobegon Trail Planning Study will be be discussed tomorrow (Tuesday) night by the St. Cloud Planning Commission, Transportation Infrastructure Advisory Board, and the Parks and Recreation Board.

The project still needs approval from the county board and city councils, before is becomes a reality.
