ST. CLOUD - St. Cloud State athletics unveiled a new Huskies logo today (Monday).

The new look of the Husky is a secondary logo and maintains a visual connection to the "St. C" logo.  It replaces the Husky head logo that has existed since the 1999-2000 school year.

New uniforms will have "St. Cloud State" or "Huskies" in a custom font created specifically for the athletic department. The new uniforms will be phased in as part of the uniform replacement process.

The combination of the primary logo, secondary logo and word mark will give Huskies athletics a consistent look and feel, and will be highly recognizable across all sports.

The new secondary logo embodies the ideals of pride, fierceness and competitiveness. It is contemporary in appearance and more in line with the changes other colleges and universities have made to keep their logos fresh.

SCSU Athletic Director Heather Weems says "The 'StC' logo has clear recognition at the regional and national level and will continue to serve as St. Cloud State Athletics' primary mark,".

Huskies became the university's official nickname in the late 1930s.
