ST. CLOUD - St. Cloud's Chief of Police is supportive of President Barack Obama's gun violence package.

It calls on Congress to ban military-style assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.  It would also close loopholes in the gun sale background check system.

Chief Blair Anderson says only time will tell if the measures would have a real impact, but he says it probably won't stop mass killings.

Anderson says Obama's 23 executive actions will help law enforcement at the local and federal level.

Anderson says the real issue is the gun violence that plays itself out on city streets every day in this country.  He says one shooting is too many.
