ST. CLOUD -- The St. Cloud community gathered this (Friday) evening for an interfaith memorial service for the late St. Cloud State University President Earl H. Potter III.

The service was held in the lobby of St. Cloud State University's Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.

Potter's family along with much of the Husky community came out to remember and celebrate Potter's life.

Acting St. Cloud State President Ashish Vaidya says the university has been given nothing but support.

"Since Tuesday we [SCSU] have received messages and remembrances from around the world highlighting the profound impact Earl had on our campus, our community and our world," says Vaidya.

Potter's son Earl H. Potter IV held back tears as he spoke highly of his father's commitment to SCSU and the St. Cloud community.

"Coming here [SCSU] he believed in making a positive impact he loved the students and the school, in fact I know he was not ready to go, he was excited about his years to come here and the work you were all doing together," says Potter IV.

Reverend Chris Cortte praised Potter for his leadership skills.

"I thought of him as a creative leader, I think he had vision fair beyond a lot of what we can understand, he always thought so far into the future, he was a dreamer," says Cortte.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow (Saturday) at St. John's Episcopal Church in St. Cloud.
