Crews Respond To Garbage Truck Fire In Milwood Township

MILWOOD TOWNSHIP — Crews responded to a call about a garbage Truck on fire in Milwood Township early this morning (Monday).

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office says they were called around 4:40 a.m. to Tom’s Refuse in Milwood Township.

Deputies say the owner of Tom’s Refuse, Charla Bueckers awoke to find a 2003 garbage truck on fire.

Deputies say they believe the fire started in the cab and engine compartment. There was significant damage to the truck shed where the truck was parked.

The Melrose Fire Department worked for about an hour to put out the blaze.

Crews are estimating about $40,000 in damages. The cause of the fire is not known.
