ALEXANDRIA - An Alexandria couple is in trouble with the law for allegedly living the high life while failing to pay their taxes.

The Douglas County Attorney's Office has charged 57-year-old Robert Thompson with 21 felony tax crimes.  His wife, 56-year-old Susan Thompson, has been charged with eight felonies.

According the the complaint, they are part owners of CI Construction in Alexandria, among other businesses.  They are accused of not filing state income tax returns since 1998.

They're also accused of buying a 2009 motor home in the name of the construction company and registering it with the state of Montana, in an effort to avoid paying sales taxes.

Meanwhile, the couple owns two Jaguars and one Cadillac.

Each felony is punishable up to five years in prison, and up to a $10,000 fine.
