LIVINGSTON, Mont. - A St. Cloud truck driver was arrested in Grundy County, Iowa last night(thurs) for his involvement in a fatal hit and run on Interstate 90 near Big Timber, Montana in September.

45-year-old David Welk of St. Cloud is accused of hitting and killing 81-year-old Elgie Bedford of Wasilla, Alaska.

According to Sweet Grass County Sheriff Dan Tronrud, Welk's driving partner called authorities in October and said he was in the sleeping area of the truck when the truck collided with something.  The sheriff says Welk allegedly returned to the scene and said there was just some clothing and a duffel bag in the road.

Welk is being held on a quarter million dollars bail.  He did waive extradition and plans are being made to transport him back to Montana.
