ST. CLOUD - The Green Party will be holding their state convention in St. Cloud on Saturday. Spokesman Brandon Long says they have five candidates running for president. Their 2012 candidate Jill Stein is the presumptive nominee.

Long says the Green Party has four pillars for their platform.

Non-violence, grassroots democracy, ecological wisdom, and social and economical justice. Those are our four guiding principals.

Long says some have called their party the "Democratic-light" party. But, he says there's at least one big difference.

One of the most defining features of the Green Party is that we don't accept corporate pac, or in the state of Minnesota, we don't even accept union money. We don't accept organizational money because, as most Americans feel, that money is corrupting. We only want to represent individual people.

Long says their highest ranking elected official in Minnesota right now is a member of the Minneapolis city council.

The state convention is Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the St. Cloud Public Library. The Green Party's national convention starts August 4th in Houston.
