EDINA -- A Metro Transit bus driver is recovering at home after several teenagers assaulted him at a stop in suburban Minneapolis last week.

The attack happened over noontime Thursday at the Southdale stop in Edina.

A Metro Transit spokesman says the driver suffered "very serious injuries."

An official of the Amalgamated Transit Union says the driver has left Fairview Southdale Hospital and is home recuperating. The name of the driver has not been released.

According to the Edina police report, the driver was assaulted by a group of five to seven males. The report says the driver had a bleeding wound to his head, and had no recollection of the assault.
