WAITE PARK -- Steady growth and development was the message given today (Wednesday) at the 8th Annual Waite Park State of the City Address.

Mayor Rick Miller says the city has been making its mark in the last year with the addition of new businesses, jobs and residents.

Miller says the growth will continue in 2015, with the proposal of four hotel developments being planned along 6th Avenue South and County Road 75 and in the area next to Menards.

He says some of the goals for 2015 include development of the southern and western parts of the city, upgrading the Public Works building and to come up with a joint city sewer district.

Police Chief Dave Bentrud says they received 80 more calls then last year. They are also continuing to do research on body cameras which they hope to use later this year.

Fire Chief Jim Aleshire says the department is looking to do a better job at pre-planning with businesses in case of fire emergencies. They are also looking for more volunteer fire fighters to add to their department.
