With the planned construction of a new YMCA Aquatic and Community Center, some local fitness club owners are raising concerns. Recent plans have said that along with a new Aquatic Center, the Y will also be adding additional facilities that owners say may harm their businesses.

Spring is hopefully just around the corner. Tonight (Monday) the Sartell city council discussed their plans to operate the wading pool for this summer.

A plan to build an aquatic center in St. Cloud is one step closer to becoming a reality. The St. Cloud Area YMCA Board of Directors today (Wednesday) approved plans to build a $20 million facility.

The city of St. Cloud had only one organization step up and ask to partner on building and operating a new aquatic center. Mayor Dave Kleis says the YMCA and the city will work to move forward on building the facility.

The Brainerd Family YMCA was evacuated and evening activities canceled after a threatening message was discovered on a changing room wall. Dozens of children - some wearing only swimsuits or shorts - were forced out into the cold Wednesday while police made an initial assessment of the building.
