He managed the team for 16 years. Cole DeVries led the Twins attack throwing 6 shutout innings with 4 hits allowed and 2 strikeouts. He gets the win and improves to 5-5. Joe Mauer, Josh Willingham and Justin Morneau each drove in 1 run and Ben Revere had 2 hits, 2 runs scored and 2 stolen bases.

The St. Cloud State football team earned their first win of the year 45-20 Saturday night at Upper Iowa. SCSU scored 20 first quarter points and cruised to the win. Michael Walker ran for 109 yards and 2 touchdowns, Phil Klaphake threw for 253 yards and 2 touchdowns, and both Eli Shoemaker and Ledell White had TD catches for the Huskies.

The St. John's football team snuck by UW-Eau Claire Saturday 31-28 to improve to 2-0. St. John's scored 21 straight points to lead 28-14 and withstood a late comeback attempt by Eau Claire to win. Connor Bruns threw for 251 yards and 2 touchdowns and he ran for 45 yards for the Johnnies. Stephen Johnson ran for 54 yards and 1 touchdown. Rob Voshell and Max Forster each had 1 TD catch for St. John's.

The Gopher football team improved to 2-0 after routing New Hampshire 44-7 Saturday afternoon. Marquis Gray threw for 100 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 109 yards and 2 touchdowns for the Gophers. Donnell Kirkwood ran for 70 yards and 1 touchdown for the Gophers. Isaac Fruechte led the Gophers with 2 catches for 53 yards and a touchdown.

The Tech football team will play home games this season at St. Cloud State's Husky Stadium. Tech head coach Gregg Martig told Emmett Keenan on St. Cloud Sports Saturday on AM 1390-the Fan that large amounts of mold was detected in both the locker rooms and concession stands at Clarke Field. A decision has been made by the school district to play away from Clarke Field this season.

Viking running back Adrian Peterson appears closer to being able to play Sunday when the Vikings host Jacksonville in their season opener. Peterson has been listed as limited in practice Wednesday and Thursday but declared himself ready to play. Offensive Coordinator Bill Musgrave says they are trying to determine the amount of touches Peterson will have if he plays. AM 1500-ESPN is reporting that Peterson will get 5-10 touches Sunday.

The St. John's football team faces a big test Saturday when they play at UW-Eau Claire at 1pm. The Johnnies are 1-0 after a 52-7 win over Northwestern College last Saturday. St. John's has developed a rivalry with Eau Claire having played them in non-conference play for the past few seasons. St. John's lost to Eau Claire last year 47-19 in Collegeville.
