Up to 30 inches of snow is possible in one area, with powerful wind. Travel should be restricted to emergencies only.

Some areas could see up to 12 inches of snow during the travel days leading up to Thanksgiving.

A storm is approaching the Upper Midwest, creating blizzard conditions in spots. Over 9 inches of snow and winds gusting up to 55 mph are possible.

Interstates have reopened in North Dakota and South Dakota after a winter storm dumped more than a foot (0.3 meter) of snow in parts of the Upper Midwest.

Confidence remains high that a winter storm will cause significant travel impacts across the Upper Midwest this weekend.

Light snow will begin to spread across far southern Minnesota late this afternoon and into the evening. Heavy snow will develop later this evening, and into Friday, with blizzard conditions developing in the far south late tonight.

Difficult driving conditions are expected with the onset of our first winter storm Friday.
